I created 3 original Silent Hill inspired tracks based off of Akira Yamaoka and his incredible music.  I’m no Akira, but I had a lot of fun writing/recording these.  They are all free downloads on my soundcloud page if you want to download them feel free!  Thanks!

The One about Nostalgia….

So my little sisters where bored and as always when my mother punishes them for misbehaviour and turns off the TV they decide to go through all our junk and take out all the old school photos and ask questions that sound like….what did you do back in the day?? (as if it was that long ago?) and what was it like?

Now that just throws me in Nostalgia mode. I have been more prone to it ever since I got back home and started living with my family again. After being away at school and working on my own for so long I am sometimes rushed by this sudden wave of reminiscence…What I used to do as a kid, places I used to go, things I used to eat and shows I used to watch. As time progresses everyone gets to say Our childhood and our generation was much better than what it is now. But I am proud to be a kid of the 90s. Hell we had so much safety and freedom. none of this viral you tube videos..social media…where everyone gets to have their 15 mins of fame…How many ppl am I supposed to care about these days?

It was all about the innocence…Back when Microsoft was king! The gameboy weighed a ton (but was awesome) and we watched shows like goosebumps, are you afraid of the dark and Fresh prince of belair. When Cartoons werent on 24/7 to rot our brain but where allocated specific times. When you werent connected all the time through laptops, iphones and ipods…but everyone had to share a common TV which brought about unity. Those where the days…and i truly feel kids nowadays…mainly my sisters…are missing out!

So if you are going through the same phase  I am…. Shout out to you first for being a 90s kid and why not share a little bit of what you used to do.

Excuse my ramblings..I thought id share my thoughts with outer space since you can do that now …

toodles

Oh man - I am a TOTAL loud and proud 90’s kid!

Some of my favorite shows/movies that I still love today:

1) Are You Afraid of the Dark

2) Home Improvement

3) Unsolved Mysteries … and MANY others

I absolutely loved SNICK and I remember coming in from playing kick the can, or HORSE with my friends to eat a frozen pizza and watch SNICK.  LOVED it.

Other things I loved from the 90’s …

Original NES … mario brothers, tetris, dr. mario, zelda … I mean come on!

That movie THE WIZARD about those kids that go to that Nintendo Tournament in California … “The power glove … it’s so bad”

Lunchables, Sunny D, Capri Sun, Hi-C …

Dawson’s Creek … Jock Jams … Goosebumps … Scary Stories to Tell In The Dark …

Oh man … Now I’m just rambling.

Concerning the Silent Hill Community project and the ‘issues’ between the Project Coordinator and Silent Haven:

Please stop.  Both of you.  Let the project breath and live as it is supposed to.  From the get go my understanding was that this would be a FREE project of ORIGINAL art and music inspired by the Silent Hill series..  I have been in contact with the project coordinator for months now and never once has he given any indication to me that this project was going to make money.  The only thing he said is there could be a donate button where people could choose to donate an amount towards the project (completely optional) and he only brought it up as an option - it was never set in stone.  That is just and option on Bandcamp and it would’ve been strange for him not to bring up at least weighing the pros and cons of it.  After openly discussing it with everyone involved - we all agreed it would be a free project to the fans.

Regardless of what was said - both parties might be a little at fault here in my opinion, the project lead has been working very very hard (for free - and for his love of the series) to bring something new to the table for us fans created by us fans.  With the reaction he is getting from some people I’m surprised he is still going through with this.  No one will ever want to even attempt to put something like this together again for fear of getting thrown to the internet wolves if they make a mistake or if there is a misunderstanding.

I’m a follower of Silent Haven as well and think that there is tons of awesome information on their page and was glad to hear that they were going to be involved in the project.  Silent Haven claims to support the individual artists working on the project - well then please just support the project or let it go.  All of this banter between you two is only hurting the musicians and artists who have worked very hard to try and pull together some fun new SH content for everyone to enjoy.

Regardless of if the coordinator and SH see eye to eye - for the sake of the fans and artists that have worked very hard, please consider stopping all of the negative back and forth bickering (both parties, regardless of who is “right”).  This is a call out to “be the bigger man (or woman)” and put the differences aside so this wonderful project can just become what it was intended to be … a fun project for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks in advance for your consideration!

Adam - The Prairie

PS:  This post isn’t meant to offend anyone, I hope that upon posting this I don’t get looped into some sort of intense online battle … that is not my intention at all … I don’t want to fuel the flame so to speak, I just want this to be over with. :)

Mini-Update #∑

silenthillcommunitytribute:

HELLO!

Thought I’d take the opportunity to remind you all, kinda a public service announcement, that you have 10 days from today to finish, re-submit or submit new art/music to the project. I will send out a group email when there’s just a week left with a bunch more info on the days closing in to release.

Hope all is well!

Michael.
